Jane's water broke at 7pm on August 1st and we arrived at the hospital at 8pm. Milk was leaking from the refrigerator at home and i wanted to clean up the kitchen and the new wood floors before we spent too long at the hospital!
We went up to the 6th floor for delivery and they sent us back down to the 1st floor to check in. There was a new volunteer working and she mistakenly sent us up before signing us in.

Then we walked to the cafe to get some food, because we were in for a long night. Jane was dilated 1 and had to get to 10 before she could deliver. We hung out and walked the floors for about an hour and headed back to the room.
At 3am Jane was making this face. After about 3 pushes Rowan Robert joined us and our lives have been changed forever for the better! It was amazing what breathing, hot water and visualization can do to take away the pain of contractions. Jane managed to deliver and handle the pain without any medication. What was really cool was that we did it all ourselves!

Me cutting the cord after i turned off the video camera for a second. I did get it all on video. It was way cool and Jane was amazing at helping Rowan join us in this world. The cord is actually tough to cut and feels like a hard rubber tube. It took some pressure to cut through it.

Rowan and his full head of lightly red hair : ) There was a little bruise on his nose and lip due to the delivery and that will be healed in a day or two.
Thanks everyone for their support and advice and gifts. We love Rowan Robert and hope for him to be in all of our lives. Day 1 of his life has ended and he is eating well, has received his shots and is a great sleeper and pooper. Jane and I are sleepy but that is easy to work with when you have this guy to look at when we are awake. Stay tuned for more beta her on the blog.
